Emily Fleisher is a professional artist who exhibits her work around the country, most recently in Houston and San Antonio, Texas, where she is based. She is also an adjunct instructor at San Antonio College and Northwest Vista College. “My work has always been predominantly about the physical space surrounding the ideas of home and familiarity,” she says. “I pluck elements from my immediate surroundings and play with the boundaries between interior and exterior space, and the familiar and remote.”

Professional Artist, www.junekellygallery.com/little

New York City-based artist James Little recently won a commission from the Metropolitan Transit Authority (MTA) for his design proposal for the new Brooklyn-bound platform at Jamaica Station. The platform will serve those traveling from Jamaica, Queens, to Barclays Center in Brooklyn. Little’s proposal consists of 33 vertical windows, each 17 feet tall and 5 feet wide, and each with a multi-colored geometric design that he will create. They will be fabricated in Paderborn, Germany. Little’s daughter Sophia ’15, a graduate of the communications design program in the School of Design, served as his design assistant on the proposal.
